Best way to kill tens of thousands?

Unfortunately maggots aren't my only problem, i have a few raccoons who have figured out that my garbage, is their favorite garbage. The pudgy pests have figured out that they can easily life the lids of my bins. They also seem to have realized that their teeth are nice and sharp so if they can't lift em, they chew at them until they can.

Of course this means that by the time morning comes my garbage has been torn apart and there are literally tens of thousands of maggots, in fact this morning I picked up the lid saw how many were on it dropped it and it was like a tidal wave of maggots floating threw the air.

I was just wondering what everyone's opinion on the best way to get rid of a lot of maggots at one time is.

WOW! I would NOT like to be in your position.

I reckon your best bet is to probably somehow sweep them up into a bag/bin and drown them (or just throw the bag away after tying a knot in it).

I'm not really sure if it will help, but I have seen perfumed garbage/refuse bags in the shops.

Maybe sealing them up tight in these bags could help a little?

I ended up dumping two jugs of bleach on them, they all died, and it seems to be keeping the raccoons away(unless they got in and just went somewhere to die)

@James: Unfortunately my town demands we use their $20 garbage bags or they just refuse to pick it up.
