Minx | We found maggots about 10 days ago that must have started in our bin in the utility room. We threw the contents away (obviously!) and got rid of all the maggots. Haven’t seen a single once since then. Now, every day, we have a crop of small bluebottles. I am using Raid directly on them when I find them, and many of them are obviously dying even before I notice them, probably because there is so much Raid on all our surfaces. But just this morning I have collected and disposed of 15 bluebottles. We have taken the utility apart, moved the washing machine/dryer, checked cupboards, washed floors. How long do maggots take to become flies? What more can I do. |
James | First things first, as a general rule, don’t have Raid on all your surfaces. I’m sure you know, but for everybody reading this, you definitely don’t want to be accidentally be eating anything contaminated with this. Obviously if you’re not spraying anywhere near food, that makes a difference, but don’t go poisoning yourself. It normally takes between a couple of days to a couple of weeks for a fly to form from a maggot. I’m not sure where your flies would be coming from. Possibly from outside? Or they have a food source somewhere inside and are living happily until you find the occasional fly wandering away? |
